Abdou Lahat Fall studied film-making at the ISIS school in Ouagadougou, graduating with a degree in cinema and screenwriting. He has worked as first assistant director for a number of film-makers including Moussa Sene Absa, Alain Gomis, Bertrand Tavernier, Mansour Sora Wade, Marc Picavez, Dyana Gaye…
In 2018, he directed his first documentary film: “Migrants, migrer : le retour impossible” (59′). It won the Jury Prize and Audience Prize at the Faitodoc festival in Italy, then the First Documentary Prize at the “Image et Vie” festival in Dakar.
His first feature-length documentary film project was launched in 2019. Developed under the title “Xare Bi” [The Struggle], it is finally called INDEPENDANCE TEY [Independence Today].
