Indépendance Tey will be screened on Thursday 26 of March at 7.30pm at Saint André des Arts as part of the 48th edition of the Cinéma du Réel international documentary film festival, Paris, France.

LOGLINE

As the country prepares for its most decisive presidential election since the independence of Senegal, INDEPENDANCE TEY takes an in depth look at « FRAPP », a collective of young Senegalese activists.

How far are they prepared to go to succeed in their struggle?

Could a citizens’ movement really manage to change the future of Senegal?

BIOFILMOGRAPHY

Abdou Lahat Fall studied film-making at the ISIS school in Ouagadougou, graduating with a degree in cinema and screenwriting. He has worked as first assistant director for a number of film-makers including Moussa Sene Absa, Alain Gomis, Bertrand Tavernier, Mansour Sora Wade, Marc Picavez, Dyana Gaye…

In 2018, he directed his first documentary film: “Migrants, migrer : le retour impossible” (59′). It won the Jury Prize and Audience Prize at the Faitodoc festival in Italy, then the First Documentary Prize at the “Image et Vie” festival in Dakar.

His first feature-length documentary film project was launched in 2019. Developed as “Xare Bi” [The Struggle], it is called INDEPENDANCE TEY [Independence Today].
